Apprentice of the year award
Daniel Marshall from our Badsey nursery won the Midland Regional Grower Apprentice of the year award at Malvern Spring Show held on Thursday 11th May. The award was presented by Alan Titchmarsh in the Festival Theatre. Other apprentices from Glendale Horticulture that took part include Mihai Asurugitei and Adrian Livadaru.
Daniel commented "Firstly, I would like to say thank you to Glendale Horticulture for giving me this fantastic opportunity. Secondly, I would like to thank my manager Mark Lewis for guiding me and helping me not only with the apprentice course but at work as well giving me useful information and tips along the way in making me become a better grower and worker at Glendale Horticulture’s Badsey Nursery.
The MRG Level 2 Apprentice Course proves to me that when putting 100% into something anything is possible, and I can achieve anything I want to. When I was informed there is an award for the Apprentice of the year I made it my own personal goal to achieve this and get this award. This place is more than just a job for me now this is my career and I want to continue moving forward and learning more about not only nursery work but horticulture in general and I feel this course and award is the perfect platform.
Mark Lewis, Nursery Manager at Badsey, added "Daniel has put a lot of effort into getting this award and thoroughly deserves it for the work he has put into achieving it. During Daniel’s time at Badsey he has grown in confidence and developed into a very good grower. The MRG Level 2 Apprentice course has played a big part in Daniel’s development with us and would thoroughly recommend it to any employer Ornamental Production horticulture who are looking to develop and have better-trained employees in the elements that are needed in Ornamental Production Horticulture."
